The string teaching area can be found on the lower floor. We run our own introductory course to help students progress towards mainstream graded exams - many pieces being written by our violin virtuoso, Matt. Students benefit from backing tracks provided by their music tutor and are encouraged to interact with other players. Students have enjoyed taking exams with the various boards available to us, including Trinity and ABRSM.

Booths Music also runs a small string orchestra in conjunction with our 'Cello tutor, Janine and other violin tutor Laura. The group have performed at several local events (including our own annual concert) and have so far helped to raise funds for various charities. Matt also runs a small string orchestra.

From 2011 we have started to operate a scheme in which children are offered a violin outfit to use within their lessons,  take home to practice and upon attending ten lessons and passing Booths first grade initiation get to keep the instrument free of charge. In addition all younger (primary) children are given a welcome pack that includes a music bag, manuscript book, practice diary, pencil and eraser. We hope this will encourage more children to take up this fantastic instrument and become part of the orchestra.

Other particularly popular instruments at present include the Banjo and Ukulele, which are also taught from our downstairs studios alongside the Mandolin. Although these instruments are fun to learn, theory is incorporated into lessons and a high playing standard can be achieved.
